From service valet to owner, and now a third generation
Liberty Automotive has been proudly serving our community since April 1965, when we opened as Liberty Buick. Over the years we've hosted an array of franchises, including Buick, Eagle, Opel, Mazda, Suzuki and Hyundai, earning a reputation as a true "city of cars."
Today we're honored to represent Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Subaru, brands we've carried for more than 30 years.
Our story is rooted in family and hard work. Joe Massarelli began at Liberty as a service valet, working through every position in the business before becoming sole owner in 2008. In 2020 his peers elected him to represent Chicagoland on the National Automobile Dealers Association board, where he works with government leaders to advocate for the industry nationwide.
In spring 2024, Joey Massarelli joined Liberty, marking the start of our third generation in the family business. Before coming home, Joey gained his experience at the Ricart dealership in Columbus, Ohio.
We've updated our name from Liberty Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram to Liberty Automotive, but nothing else has changed. Still owned and operated by the same family since 1965, we take pride in delivering real hospitality to every guest who walks through our doors.
